VFW Scout of the Year Scholarship

The Veterans of Foreign Wars has established a $5000 scholarship to be presented to the “National Scout of the Year” at the 2008 VFW National Convention. Recipients of the Eagle Scout Award, Venture Silver Award or Sea Scout Quartermaster Award, ages 15 to 18 years of age and enrolled in High School are eligible to apply. Deadline for submitting a completed entry to a VFW Post in the community is March 1, 2008.

Emergency Preparedness
The United States Department of Homeland Security is pleased to partner with the Boy Scouts of America to promote citizen preparedness across the country. By continuing to build upon the foundation of the Ready campaign, we will work together to explore additional avenues of making emergency preparedness information available to the public.
This award is available to Cub-, Boy- and Varsity Scouts, as well as Venturers and adult volunteers.
World Conservation Award
This award, available to both Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts, recognizes the contributions of youth to the maintenance and preservation of our natural resources.
  Internet Scout Patch
The U.S. Scouting Service Project encourages Scouts and Scouters from around the world to learn about the Internet and how to use the Internet safely. Scouts and Scouters that have earned the Internet Scout Patch may wear it proudly as a temporary patch on the Scout Uniform.
Cub Scouts Academics and Sports
Academics and Sports is a program whose methods aims to achieve development of physical, mental and emotional fitness. It is intended as an additional means of accomplishing these aims and is not meant to replace the basic requirements for Cub Scouts.
