Camp Big Timber is a 60 acre camp conveniently located just west of Elgin, Illinois on the corner of Tyrrell Road & Big Timber Road.  Big Timber has a variety of facilities for year round camping & training opportunities in an outdoor setting. CAMP BIG TIMBER REPAIR & MAINTENANCE

Many service projects are being scheduled for Camp Big Timber in 2012 to help improve our camp. Please mark your calendars!!

The CBT key three have met and have come up with a list of work dates and a list of projects. We have not tied projects to dates.  What projects we work on each work weekend will depend on the personnel  and the weather. If you have a passion for a particular project let me know so we can let you know when we will be working on your favorite. We will be sending out reminders at least one week in advance with a list of the projects for that weekend so you can plan on what tools you want to bring. I would  like it if you could RSVP if you can make it so we can plan on food needs.

Paint the exterior of T-Lodge,  Rebuild mechanical room door at the Shower House , Repair picnic tables,  Seal K-Lodge deck, Seal BB gun range, Seal Tree House, Split fire wood, Reframe the compass at the flag poles, etc

Wood Badge Conservation Project Held at Camp Big Timber

Des Plaines Valley Council recently held part of its Wood Badge Course C-22-09 at our camp. One of the learning experiences was to learn how to plan and conduct a service project. Camp Big Timber was the beneficiary of this project, which was to clear out invasive species of bushes and trees which were engulfing the fire bowl and treehouse areas of the camp. Many thanks to the staff and participants who did such a wonderful service project for the camp! View photos of this project below.
