On March 31, 2011 the Three Fires Council Alumni Committee approved the structure for the Three Fires Council Alumni Association. It is the mission of the Alumni Association to provide a local response to the Boy Scouts of America Alumni Connection which is a call to find Scouting alumni and invite them to once again get involved with the Boy Scouts of America. Please check out the BSA Alumni website and join thousands of others who are reconnecting with Scouting!

Webelos to Scout Transition into Boy Scouts
One of Scouting's greatest responsibilities for our troops is to make the next level of Scouting readily available for a young man once he meets the joining requirements. Boy Scout troops should assign an assistant Scoutmaster or a troop committee member to be responsible for new Scouts, which would include developing a relationship with the Cubmaster and the Webelos den leaders. This person serves as a resource during Webelos overnight activities and builds enthusiasm among boys and their parents for the exciting challenges that await them in Boy Scouting.
Click here for more information on the troops role in the Webelos to Scout Transition and ways you can help build relationships with the Webelos in your area.

The Boy Scouts of America announces a new position in Scouting called the ScoutParent. The ScoutParent is an optional, non-registered position similar to the Tiger Cub Partner. A new radio button (circle to fill in) in the Parent/Guardian section of the Adult Application includes this wording for the new National Parent Initiative: “I commit to be an active ScoutParent.” A ScoutParent is an optional, non-registered position similar to Tiger Cub Partner.
What are
A ScoutParent is a parent or adult mentor of a Scout who enthusiastically participates with their Scout and also helps other volunteers to provide the best quality program experience to all youth in every unit.
A ScoutParent:
• Leads their family in obtaining the values, benefits, experiences and rewards from their family’s Scouting participation, and in sharing these with others;
• Enjoys participating with his or her Scout and inspires their child to persevere in Scouting with their tenure, activity participation and achievement;
• Helps enhance youth and parent-mentor recruitment, retention, enthusiasm, commitment and participation in the passionate GREAT Family FUN of Scouting!; and
• Helps Make It SO!
Often when we need to recruit a new leader for our units, we use one of two methods. The first method is thinking of everyone that we know who we think would fit the bill. By recruiting new unit leaders this way, we either run out of people to recruit or we start asking the same people over and over again to fill our units' needs. The second method is simply hoping that a new Scout joins the troop and one of his family members volunteers to become a new leader.
The problem with these methods is that we either do not fill our unit's leadership needs or we recruit people who might not be the ideal match to the position. The guide below outlines an effective process of finding the right person to fill your unit's leadership needs.

After logging in you may access the Internet Rechartering portal. Some individuals are experiencing difficulty with their My Scouting account. If this happens, you may use the Internet Rechartering link as an option to access your charter.
Internet Rechartering is a Web-based software application designed to make the unit charter renewal process more efficient and accurate. The Internet Rechartering tutorial is a step-by-step explanation of how to use the Internet Rechartering system. It includes screen captures and examples. We recommend that users take the tutorial before using Internet Rechartering.
A representative of each unit can now complete the paperwork for renewing a charter online. From Internet Rechartering, you can indicate returning members, add new members, and update information for an individual or the chartered organization.
To renew a charter online
Sixty days before your unit's expiration date, select a renewal processor.
The renewal processor attends the October roundtables to receive training and the unit access code.
Sixty to 45 days before the unit's expiration date, the renewal processor clicks Recharter Now and begins the process.
When the online process is completed, the renewal processor prints the completed charter renewal application.
The unit leader and the chartered organization representative sign the charter renewal application. Bring the application along with the material you received in your recharter packet (such as the Quality Unit application), and all appropriate fees to your district's charter turn-in meeting.
Recharter Turn-in Parties will be held on different dates for each district.
Calling all Scouting units. January through April is when most of the units in Three Fires Council Recharter.
