Training & Awards for Commissioners and Roundtable Staff

 Welcome to Scouting! As a new Boy Scout volunteer you are joining our Scouting family, & we want you to understand how the program works. The BSA is committed to your success as a volunteer while serving young people. To help you be successful there are training courses designed for each level of the program you are involved with.

What Makes a Trained Commissioner?  

Youth Protection - Available in English or Spanish at MyScouting. This training is designed to allow you to create as safe an environment as possible for the Scouts in our program's activities.

Commissioner Basic Training - For all Unit Service Commissioners

Cub Scout Roundtable Commissioner & Staff Training - For all Cub Scout Roundtable Commissioners & their Staff

Boy Scout Roundtable Commissioner & Staff Training - For all Boy Scout Roundtable Commissioners & their Staff

Six Elements of Good Commissioner Training

1. View the Commissioner Orientation Video - Within 48 hours or as soon as possible 
2. Personal coaching and orientation  - With the help of your District Commissioner designated Commissioner
3. Commissioner Basic Training - Conducted by a Commissioner Trainer or Team
4. Arrowhead Honor - May be earned after one year
5. Commissioner's Key - May be earned after three years
6. Continuing education every month/every year - Attend your regular monthly District Commissioner Meetings
