This site provides a variety of materials, from quick references to complete courses, all designed to help our members improve leadership skills and deliver a quality program.

The BSA has instituted the online LEARNING CENTER.  At this center, you can take various online courses, including:

  • Youth Protection Training
  • Cub Scout Leader Fast Start
  • Boy Scout Leader Fast Start
  • Venturing Advisor Fast Start
  • Troop Committee Challenge
  • Aquatics Safety (Safe Swim Defense and Safety Afloat)
  • Staffing the District Committee
  • Venturing Crew Orientation
  • Venturing Youth Protection Training

There are also many Supplemental Training Helps available at the Learning Center to provide orientation beyond the basic Trainings offered.

LOGIN IS REQUIRED: If this is your first visit, you will be required to register before proceeding to your desired courses. When registering, be sure to have your BSA membership card handy - registering with your membership number will ensure that your training is recorded by the BSA, but you should still notify your unit (pack, troop, crew, etc.) and district training personnel of the completion of any courses you take. All Learning Center pages are secure, so information you enter while visiting the site will be safe.

YOUTH PROTECTION TRAINING

Beginning January 2003, local and national tour permit applications require Youth Protection training for at least one of the adults who will accompany the Scouts. The national tour permit requires all registered adults to have Youth Protection training to participate in a nationally sponsored event or activity.
National tour permits are required on all Scouting tours or trips that are 500 or more miles one-way. The local council establishes the requirements for local tour permits, which are required on all Scouting tours or trips that are shorter than 500 miles.

OTHER ADDITIONAL ONLINE TRAININGS: (Note) Three Fires Council only recognizes the online courses listed on this page as certified for training certificates. These come from the BSA National. While other online courses may be found on other non-TFC websites, those courses may not be recognized as official by the BSA and/or Three Fires Council.
